NOTE: Unlike news, creative, or editorial writing–copywriting is all about getting the reader to take action. The desired action might inspire a reader to purchase, to opt-in, or to engage with a product, a service, a project, or a company.
Writing copy for clients on various subjects is a challenge I thoroughly enjoy. I have written on a plethora of topics throughout my career, but most recently banking, FinTech, payments, cloud computing, insurance, real estate, and technical issues for corporate blog articles are at the forefront of my work.
I used to enjoy making contributions to various newspapers and magazines, and I became an editor for one of the newspapers. It was a small newspaper focused on community news and events. In this capacity I wrote headlines, helped to lay out the paper, managed writers, edited their work, and I contributed articles when necessary. I loved every minute of the experience.
I have a degree in Journalism, but my real-world writing skills come from a varied background. I have worked in AP style writing, business writing (in which I have also written curriculum and taught workshops), interviewing and crafting content as a ghostwriter for two books and one advertorial, article writing for magazines and newspapers, faith-based writing, creative writing, and in recent years—copywriting.
I am an experienced researcher and curator, using the internet for literary research, hot-topic research, technical research, and trending topics. I work hard, am organized, straightforward, and I thoroughly examine and edit my work before it is submitted. I use Evernote, an excellent tool with which to gather and systematize information, and I highly recommend it to everyone.
I live and work in Central Florida. I am Mom to three grown daughters and a grandmother of thirteen.
For over twenty years I owned a horse and a dog. Losing them both near the same time was hard. My friends suggested that writers have cats–not dogs and horses, so I succumbed to their advice, and I got my first cat.
We learned– together—how to live with each other. My cat was not sure at first, whether he actually was a cat or a dog. Since I knew very little about cats–I wasn’t sure at first, which he was either. However, we finally came to terms with one another—I would love on him, feed him, meet his every need, and in return—he would bite me!
I purchased a can of air to clean the keyboard on my computer and discovered that it terrified him! After that, there was no more biting.
As a Believer in Christ, I take pleasure in studying my bible and attending church regularly. I love spending time with my wonderful family and good friends, and I relish those times we spend out-of-doors. Reading is a great pastime for me and so is journaling and needlework, albeit I still have my saddle–just in case.
I’m told I have a mischievous side to my character and that I am somewhat of an oxymoron—but I think that is just what “THEY” say! Whoever “THEY” are …
